I can remember the first time I really used coupons. It was in October of 2008 and I was 7 months pregnant. After spending hours online browsing coupon blogs and websites, I headed to Rite Aid. I walked out with a bag full of medicine and after rebates, it was almost all free. The thrill was as exciting as the money saved! Since then, I’ve gotten thousands of dollars in free products.
The good news is that if you haven’t couponed a day in your life, you don’t have to spend hours gathering the information like I did. Kelly Hancock has written an awesome book titled Saving Savvy – Smart and easy ways to cut your spending in half and raise your standard of living… and giving! She has bundled her knowledge when it comes to saving money and wrapped it up in this wonderful book full of practical strategies to help anyone save money. Even though I’ve couponed for 3 years, I still learned from Saving Savvy. Kelly covers more than using coupons though. You’ll find information that will help you utilize your freezer space, stock up on items you use, meal plan, plan your grocery trip, and live generously.
Everybody wants to save money, but sometimes it’s just too difficult and overwhelming. Kelly Hancock, popular blogger and media personality, has done the hard work for those who want to save big! Her practical saving secrets will help readers cut their spending half—even before they clip the first coupon.
In Saving Savvy you’ll learn how to:
- Define your personal “saving style,” via a special spending-style quiz
- Navigate grocery sales
- Use coupons strategically
- Plan meals wisely
- Teach your children money and budgeting principles
- Live generously
I would highly recommend this book if you are looking to save money. Whether you have a little or a lot of time to dedicate to living on less, Kelly has some great tips and advice to share! You can purchase Saving Savvy at Amazon.com. Currently, it is on sale for $11.12!

Match your coupons with what’s on sale that week. In other words, look through the sale ads and only use your coupons for the items that are on sale. That way you get more savings than just using the coupon alone. Thanks.

my favorite money saving tip is for clothes shopping and its simply to plan ahead. Its harder to do when the kids are really little but since my boys are older I can safely guess what size we’ll need for the next year and I hit the end of the season sales each season. I’ve gotten brand new stuff for as little as .75
You can find some really awesome stuff at thrift stores. I love buying name-brand jeans for wicked cheap there.
Buy things off-season. Things tend go on sale when there is the least demand- candy and decor immediately after holidays, patio furniture and grilling supplies when fall sets in, clothes at the end of their respective season. If you can find coupons to combine with the timing, you’re golden!
Use coupons.
Minimize trips to town if you do not go you will not spend

I save money by using coupons and codes when buying online. I buy my sons clothing at consignment sales 50% off days, just got his entire fall and winter wardrobe for under $30 this year. I also keep an eye on our accounts and keep up with what we spend.

My husband and I love going to the movie theater, so instead of going to the more expensive night showings, we go early in the day. The tickets are much cheaper.

My favorite or the one that works best for me.
Is to only go food shopping one day a week .
You save lots of time and money. No quick little runs to the store and you use what you have.

Buy produce at local farmer markets. Packaged produce in stores is very expensive.
