How to Build a LEGO® Youtube Channel Playlist & $1,000 Giveaway

Every morning, Bryson wakes up and stumbles through the house to find me.  He asks "Mom, can I play on your phone and watch my LEGO® videos?"  The first few minutes of the day before his little sister wakes up are all his.  He takes my iPhone and either goes back to bed or cuddles up on the couch while he watches videos from the Official LEGO® Channel.  How quickly he learned to navigate YouTube impressed me and scared me at the same time.  Because I don't want him to accidentally click on the wrong videos, I created a playlist for him with mom-approved videos from the LEGO® Youtube Channel.   Building a playlist couldn't be easier and it saves time when searching for your (or your kids) favorite videos. Learning in 3D – #CypherKidsClub

Cypher Kids Club Screenshots

Bryson and Bella both love technology.  They can both navigate my iPhone 4s as well as I can and there are more apps on it for them than for me.  I have found some wonderful educational apps from flashcards to games.  Cypher Kids Augmented Reality Cards combine the technology of the iPhone with handheld flashcards to deliver a fun 3D experience.  It's the first app of it's kind that we have tried and it's super neat! They are available in three different packs- Numbers Adventures, Letter Adventures, and Wild Animal Adventures. It all works by using the camera on your device. Cypher Kids Augmented Reality Cards are compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPods. Each flashcard has a front and back. On the back, you'll find the 3D marker. Simply hold your camera about 12 inches away and watch the the on screen scene come alive. As the scene appears, your child will also hear fun facts and information about what they are seeing. The Wild Animal cards teach children to identify … [Read more...]

Canvas Bookcase from PersonalCreations.com – Kid Gift Idea

Personalized Canvas Bookcase from Personal Creations

We read to our children daily, usually several times per day.  Bryson has a large bookcase in his room, but we have to keep it closed because Bella likes to throw every. single. book. in the floor and leave them there.  We keep 10-20 books out at a time- their favorites and seasonal or holiday themed books.  Right now, Bryson is really into cowboy & western themed books along with Christmas books.  I found the perfect gift idea for kids that love books from PersonalCreations.com.  I've had my eye on the personalized canvas bookcase for a while, but never ordered it.  It was a treat to work with the folks at PC for the third time and receive such a cute and useful product for review! The canvas bookcase is available in pastel or primary colors.  The pastel bookcase would have looked adorable in Bella's room, but we didn't have room for it so I went with the primary to match Bryson's room.  Instead of getting it personalized with a name, I chose to go with "Books" … [Read more...]

Preschool Pick – LeapFrog & RoseArt

LeapFrog Early Learning Tools Products

A few weeks ago, a box landed on our doorstep and I opened it to find it packed full of LeapFrog and RoseArt goodies!  Homeschool preschool has been awesome so far this year.  Bryson is writing his letters, spelling his name, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and it's just been so fun to watch him learn and grow.  Bella is very into it too.  She loves to color and get in on the action!  She's even started counting some. LeapFrog Pre-K & K Learning Tools We are huge LeapFrog fans.  From learning toys to the LeapPad and LeapFrog DVDs, we've had nothing but good experiences with LeapFrog products.  I credit LeapFrog's Letter Factory DVD with teaching Bryson his letter and their sounds.  I didn't realize that LeapFrog also made early learning tools that can be used the classroom. Our favorites are the Dry Erase Printing Practice books along with the Dry Erase Crayons.  There is a larger book and a smaller book that would be great to keep tucked in my purse.  I … [Read more...]

The Adventures of Zylie the Bear — Review

Adventures of Zylie Bear

Bella will be two in January and I remember how  much I absolutely loved age 2 with Bryson, so I'm looking forward to the next year with her.  She's is beginning to like her baby dolls more and more.  As I'm typing this, I am currently babysitting her baby, Stella,- she is sitting on my lap and Bella comes by to check on her every so often. I remember how much much I enjoyed baby dolls and stuffed animals growing up.  In fact, I still have a lot of stuffed animals at my parent's house.  LOL  I'm not sure that I ever had anything quite like Zylie the Bear though. Meet Zylie the Bear The fun new teddy bear that’s designed to be dressed and played with like a doll. She is an inquisitive and fashionable 12-year-old bear from Manhattan. Follow her on a series of adventures all around the world. Every country she visits, she meets a new friend who joins her on the adventures. Bella’s Halloween Costume for 2012 – Emily the Owl

Emily the Owl Costume, Owl, Halloween 2012

I've loved owls since I became pregnant with Bella.  In fact, her nursery has an owl theme.  I wanted to dress her up as an owl last year for Halloween, but all of the cute owl costumes were too expensive for my tastes.  I can't see spending $50 or $60 on a costume for one night!  I was so excited to find this adorable Emily the Owl costume this year for $35 at WholesaleCostumes.com.  They have a great selections of costumes for infants, kids, men, and women from superheros to adorable animals. The Emily the Owl costume is beyond cute. It comes with the owl bodysuit, pink leggings, and the owl hood with ears and a pink bow.  For Halloween night, we'll probably add a plain long sleeve shirt under the bodysuit and some tights for extra warmth.  This costume is so super soft and I love all the different patterns and owls featured on the belly. The fit is true to size.  I chose the 18-24 month for Bella and it fits great.  The leggings are little loose, but I think adding … [Read more...]

Dinosaur Train Halloween – #Giveaway

Dinosaur Train Tiny costume

Dinosaur Train is one of the first shows Bryson ever asked to watch and he still enjoys it.  We have several Dinosaur Train books featuring Tiny, Shiny, Buddy and the clan.  Now he has a Dinosaur Train Tiny costume too.  Bryson loves to dress up and regularly asks to wear costumes, so we keep them around even when it's not Halloween.  He wants the Dinosaur Train Buddy costume now too! The Tiny costume is very nice and much better quality that I expected.  It comes in four pieces- two shoe covers, the costume body, and the head.  All are easy to put on, the body is similar to a sleeper. The head piece is a bit on the heavy side and flops around, so Bryson will leave it off sometimes and play without it. It's made of fleece so  it's sure to keep little ones warm in cooler weather. We received the Dinosaur Train Tiny costume is a size 3-4.  As you can see, it's a bit small on Bryson.  He currently wears a 4T so if you aren't sure which size to order, I would suggest going … [Read more...]

Real World 3D Geometric Folding Shapes from Learning Resources

I spend a lot of time researching and shopping for learning tools for our homeschool preschool. One of my favorite stores is Learning Resources because they carry a huge variety of toys, manipulatives, and tools for kids of all ages.  I love that I can shop by grade, category, subject, or brand.  We recently received the Real World Folding Geometric Shapes to review. Real World Folding 3D Geometric Shapes In the box, you'll find 24 inserts with play designs and 8 common shapes- cone, cube, cylinder, hexagonal prism, rectangular prism, triangular prism, square pyramid and triangular pyramid.  Each shape measure 3" high.  You'll also find an activity guide with ideas for learning and play. These Real World Folding 3D Geometric Shapes are geared toward grades K+.  Since Bryson already knows the basic shapes, I decided this would be a good time to introduce him to geometric shapes too.  The "real world" aspect of these shapes give him something to relate each one too- paint … [Read more...]
