Halloween was just another day for until Bryson was born. Since then, my interest in decorating and gearing up for Halloween has increased each year. Last year, I made it a point to buy some Halloween decorations as I had none. I recently pulled all of those out and added a few more touches from Kmart. I brought out the Christmas tree I bought for Bryson’s room last year and decorated it for Halloween too.
I was excited to head to Kmart for more Halloween decorations. As soon as I walked in the door, I spotted the Halloween signs and some cute porch greeters. As I headed toward the seasonal aisle, I noticed some fall decorations and linens. Something else caught my eye and surprised me too- they had their Christmas decorations out! It isn’t even Halloween yet and Christmas decor was everywhere. When I made it over to the seasonal area, I was shocked to see that the Christmas trees were all set up and decorated. I had to look past all of that to find the Halloween decor.
There were two full aisles of costumes and props, but barely any home decor. I was a little saddened, but thought maybe I was in the wrong place. I looked the entire store over, found a few things with the cards and party supplies, but that was it. I went back to the seasonal area and decided to dig through some cardboard boxes that had yet to be unpacked. Inside I found some oven mitts and table cloths- the kinds of things I wanted. I’m not sure why they weren’t stocked and on the shelves as they were almost bare. Either way, I’m just glad that I like to snoop which led me to what I was looking for.
In the end, I purchased decor items, some fun kits for Halloween activities with Bryson, a Berenstain Bears Halloween book, and a costume/ sleeper for Bella. I’m more than happy with my purchases, but I am disappointed in the selection. You can see my shopping story at Intersect.
Here is our dining area all spookified & ready for October 31st!
We are going to bake some Halloween cupcakes and make some candy necklaces using supplies from Kmart. They had a great Wilton display and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make some memories with my babies.
Be sure to check out all the ideas over at the Kmart 50ft Party page and check out the deals for this week! One last thing, if you head over to the Kmart Facebook page, you can enter their Monster Bash contest. The prize for the week is an $1,100 Kmart gift card! It’s a simple entry and that would help out with your holiday shopping!
How are you gearing up for Halloween?

Super cool decorations! I always forget to go by KMart and look. Need to make myself stop by this week.

Glad you found what you were looking for. I decorated this past weekend. I put a few things in the guest bathroom and Halloween soap too! I also decorated the kitchen counter where the bar stools are with a couple of jack o lanterns and our mini Halloween Disney tree.
I also put out the orange throw pillows for the couch in the living room, which will stay out through Turkey day and then I will replace them with red throw pillows for Christmas.
Happy Haunting!
we don’t decorate for halloween but that’s some really cute stuff.
LOVE what you bought! Super cute stuff 🙂
I love the halloween tree and orange teddy bear! What great touches! I usually don’t decorate for Halloween, but I do decorate for fall. Love your ideas!
Your house looks so festive! I love that your walls are such a warm, fall shade too!
Isn’t that adorable! I love those decorations! I don’t usually decorate for Halloween, but only because I don’t have the stuff.
[…] first family vacation to Destin, FL. We visited the pumpkin patch, went trick-or-treating, and decorated the house for Halloween. Hubby and I also took part in a wedding and I had to leave Bella for the first time. […]
