From House to Home

Farmhouse Front Porch | We Moved In!

We moved in!  On a whim back in April, we stayed the night due to the possibility of tornadoes.  We wanted to be near our storm shelter….  Then, we stayed and never returned to our other house.  So our move in date was April 11, 2020- the day before Easter.

The house isn’t quite finished.  The master bathroom shower still needs tiled.  Garage doors have yet to be ordered and installed, but those are the only “big” items left.  Everything else is just tying up loose ends.  Justin and Jessie put so much work into this house and it shows.  They did an amazing job.

Having so many spaces to decorate makes me giddy.  I’ve already switched out door mats and rearranged the front porch more than once.  Our sweet neighbor built these cedar benches and surprised me with them.  I was blown away by his kindness and craftsmanship.  The benches are super heavy and gorgeous.

It feels so good to be here.  The excavation of our land was finished last week.  We (mostly Justin and Jessie) spent part of the weekend sowing seed and covering it with hay.  So hopefully we will have grass before summer is over.  We’ve already made a lot memories here and I can’t wait for all the ones to come.  We are over the moon excited to raise our family here.  Watching the kids play in the creek and explore the land, seeing them covered with dirt from head to toe, grilling out in the shade while the twins play- it’s everything we’d hoped it would be.
