From House to Home

House Progress

We are weeks away from moving into our new house.  Weeks.  One year ago, we didn’t even have a plan to build a house.  It didn’t take long after the twins were born to realize that we were really, truly out of space.  For the better part of 2019, we had 8 kids living in a 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath house.  I can’t even explain how excited I am to be down to the finishing touches and so close to moving in.

Our new house is less than 1 mile from our current house.  We installed a storm shelter in the garage floor so we’ve been hanging out over there when the weather is bad.  Twice in the last few weeks, we’ve gone under tornado watches and/or warnings.  The twins played in our master bedroom over the weekend when the weather was rough.

The floors are finished throughout the house.  Justin and Jessie have worked over there every night for months putting on the siding, hanging and finishing the drywall, installing lights, wiring outlets and switches, laying floor, putting up trim, painting, and basically finishing the entire house.

At this point, we are waiting on cabinetry and field lines.  There is still a lot of caulking and another coat of paint needed throughout most of the house.  All of the interior doors are hung and need painted.  Most of the overhead lights are installed.  The wooden exterior doors need stained.  It’s mostly just the finishing details- tile work, outlet and switch covers, paint, etc. left to do.  Still a lot of hours of work left!

I’m mostly just posting so I can do a photo dump of some of my favorite photos from the last month.  I love watching it all come together.
