I think, at some point, every nursing mother questions her supply. I know that I did, still do sometimes. Looking at Bella, you can tell I don’t have supply issues now, but for the first couple months, I worried. A lot. Almost constantly.
The wonderful people at Motherlove sent me their More Milk Plus capsules. I’d read fabulous things about these pills, so I was more than happy to give them a try. The suggested use is to take 1 capsule 4 times per day or women over 175lbs take 2 capsules 3 times per day. You can take them with 1-2 oz. of liquid, but you need to avoid additional liquids 20 minutes before and after each dose.
The first day, I took 2 Motherlove More Milk Plus capsules at a time. By the next morning, I knew I could give them a positive review. I woke up with leaking, hard, full, and painful boobs! Seriously, I was like WOW. I had to to pump and I expressed more milk than I ever had before. So, I cut back to one capsule and it’s been gravy ever since. I have felt much more confident with my supply. I’ve tried several products to help boost supply and I would 100% recommend the Motherlove More Milk Plus capsules. If you take 4 capsules daily, you can get a month supply for around $30. When you consider the cost of formula, $30 is cheap and I saw results within 24 hours, so it’s definitely worth it!
If you can handle the taste, I’ve read wonderful things about the Motherlove More Milk Plus Liquid. I haven’t tried it, because I’m afraid that I would never be able to get it down. I’d love to hear what you have to say if you’ve tried it!
Motherlove has products for pregnancy, birth, baby, and breastfeeding. I’ve tried several products including their diaper rash relief salve. The Diaper Rash & Thrush Relief is awesome. It’s all I use on Bella now. If she starts turning a little red, I put just a tiny bit on her and see improvement by the next day. Most of the time, the redness is completely gone within 24 hours. You can get a 1oz container for right under $10 and it will last you forever. Seriously, I think my container will last for a couple years!
I also have a container of the Motherlove Green Salve. It’s great for bug bites, bee stings, and poison ivy. It helps take the sting and itch away. I keep this in my diaper bag, so I always have it with me.
Not only do these products do exactly what they are supposed to, they are all toxin free and made using certified organic ingredients.
UPDATE 9/26/2012 – This post receives quite a bit of hits, so I wanted to give an update. After using one bottle of Motherlove More Milk Plus capsules, I never had another supply issue. Not a single issue. Bella is now 20 months old and still nursing strong. If you are concerned about your milk supply, I highly recommend Motherlove More Milk Plus capsules.

Today I bought the Liquid More Milk Plus. It is POTENT in taste LOL but luckily, it subsides pretty quick.
I’m hoping I have a positive response I can tell you, I kind of debated getting the More Milk Special Blend that had the Goat’s Rue but hopefully, what I have is what I need.
I wasn’t brave enough to try the liquid, but I’ve heard it’s awesome. I hope it works for you & those babies!
I just bought the more milk plus liquid . To define the taste for someone looking to try it- it tastes like someone tried to make whiskey with fermented black licorice. Luckily it’s a small volume to drink. You can’t have more than an ounce or two of liquid 15 mins before and after taking the supplement, so I have put my extra medicine dispensers from the baby shower to good use and put a tiny bit of a tastier drink and then added the liquid so you don’t have to suffer tasting it twice in a row…blegh. the stopper says it can draw up a ml, but it doesn’t work well so it on ly goes as high as. 75 ml…which means I have to drink it three times in a row which is gross…it takes more time to make a tiny concoction but it saves me from choking down the stuff over and over. I could have gotten the capsules but I figured the liquid would be more direct…too bad it tastes like the inside of an old grandma’s boot.

Why can’t you drink liquids 15 minutes before or after taking it?
I read the reviews on the more milk plus capsules and have purchased my first bottle, I have high hours for it’s effectiveness. When I first started breastfeeding my little girl she was torture on my nipples. Someone recommended the Motherlove Nipple Cream and it did wonders for me!

I just bought this product recommended by my lactation nurse. I dont understand but every time i drink it i end up with a massive headache like my blood pressure goes up. My head throbs so hard it feels like it will burst. Does anyone experience this? And what can be done to help relieve the pain.
Im kind of scared because i wonder if it will harm my child but my milk supply is low. should i consult my doctor or should i just order More Milk Plus and give it a try

I tried the liquid for a week and unfortunately my milk supply went down. I’m pretty disappointed and returning it today. before I was on fenugreek only and I could pump 2 and a half to 3 ounces on both breasts. since being on the liquid I only pump 1 ounce for both breasts ;000(

I realize I am VERY late to this discussion but I have had experience with the liquid so I wanted to share in case anyone else stumbled on this blog post as well. My lactation consultant recommended mixing the liquid with a strong juice, like cranberry. I still only took it with 1-2oz. of the juice but because cranberry juice is so strong, I never noticed the taste of the More Milk Plus liquid. Plus, I can happily report that the MMP was a God-send for me. It almost doubled my supply which had a slipped a little bit due to me returning to work and starting to pump. I was very pleased.
Like some of the other commenters, I was also worried about taking herbs. I did a lot of research and never found a negative side effect recorded for any of the herbs in MMP. I’m so glad that I decided to take them.

Just wondering if this product is safe to take during pregnancy?
I used the liquid tincture with my son who is now 2, it helped immensely. It has the same stricture on adding more liquid 20 mins to either side of taking it, so I used to take it before bedtime. Taste is terrible, but I felt that it being in liquid form, it would absorb faster and have a better result.
I will be buying it again for this baby due in Oct.

I have a question. Did you need to continue taking the capsules after the initial 120 bottle or did your milk supply stay established after that?
My milk supply was established and stayed that way after finishing the bottle so I didn’t need to take it anymore. I’m sure it could be different for everyone, but that was my experience.
How long can we use it? after stop using it then it reduce the milk supply.
Just bought some today and I’m hoping for a great outcome. My son is 8mo and it just doesn’t seem like he’s getting enough. Plus I’m hoping to go back to work after the New Year. Maybe now I can stock up on pumping so that he doesn’t have issues when he starts daycare.

Could somebody describe how the capsules look? I have never seen them so wondered if they look as they are supposed to look. the capsules are sort of transparent and inside it is like jelly that has the colour of gravy. Hope you understand my description.

Another VERY late response, but I also just got the liquid More Milk Plus. I REALLY should have paid more attention because I got the one with alcohol (42-52% grain alcohol) it is absolutley dreadful! I do not drink alcohol and it makes me gag and wretch. I have only taken it twice so I can’t say of the taste is worth it, BUT I am wondering WHY is liquid restricted before and after? Does it effect it negatively??
I think it just dilutes the tincture too much for it to be most effective. 🙂
