Bryson and I were recently given the chance to try out the “Your Baby Can Read” program. I can remember my parents working with me from a very early age. I always had work books in tow, no matter where we went and I loved to learn. I hope to be able to provide Bryson with the same experience.
If you haven’t watched the Your Baby Can Read commercial on TV, you can visit the website to see the program in action. We received the starter kit and have spent time working with it. Life has been extremely hectic lately, so I have gotten to use it as much as I’d like, but I hope to increase our usage after we are settled in our new home. As you probably know, Bryson is only nine months old. He babbles and talks constantly and I am positive he is speaking sentences, just none that I can understand!
We have enjoyed the program and I especially like the word cards and the starter book. Each one contains simple words like “eyes” and then you can view the photo. There is also one blank wipe-clean word card and an erasable marker, so you can make your own. The parent’s guide will walk you through the entire process and includes tons of helpful hints and tips.
Buy it! You can buy the Your Baby Can Read program online. There are many different packages, including extra books, DVDs, and word cards. If you would like to order the entire set, you can do so for $199.95. To order and learn more, visit yourbabycan.com
I received a product to assist with this post, but no other compensation was provided. All opinions remain my own, as always.

>I absolutely love that it works on a schedule that builds up. I have a hard time adjusting to a new schedule, even just adding meals was hard for me and my baby so this would be amazing because it works up to more viewing and practicing.
>I learned: normally, children don't start learning to read until age 5 or 6 years old, but the natural window of opportunity begins to close around age 4 – BEFORE THEY ENTER KINDERGARTEN!

>I'd love to have the set for my son. Nephew, he's only 2.5 years old, but I can already tell that he's going to have trouble learning in a school enviornment. I think between my sister and I, we can give him a leg up for when he does start kindergarten.

>As a mother, I was curious what the programs out there were about. There is nothing wrong with these approaches to reading as long as the videos are relevant and information is not forced on a child. We have the Your Baby Can Read series and we wanted a bit more so we purchased the Monkisee DVDs. I decided to try out different programs thinking if it ever became work or something she did not want to do than we could use them as Frisbees. I am truly impressed with the Monkisee DVDs as a mother and as a school psychologist, wish I could hand them out to the young children I assess for developmental delays.
