Taking care of mama (part 2)

Last week, I wrote about learning to take care of my skin and I wondered aloud of it was possible to repair the damage I’ve already done.  After doing a little bit of digging and reading around the web, I’ve found that the answer is yes!  (insert sigh of relief here)  That is good to know and here are some ways you I can reverse some of the damage:

  • Wear sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher.
  • Exfoliate.
  • Use topical retinoids.
  • Bleach brown spots.

Of course, you could also visit a dermatologist for other options like a chemical peel, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, or light treatments.  I went to a dermatologist when I was much younger and I’d definitely say it was worth the cost. 

Using is an easy step in the right direction. The less chemicals I put on my skin, the better.  is rich in Vitamin E, can be used to protect the hair and skin from UV exposure, as a moisturizer for dry skin, and to smooth dry, damaged hair.

We actually went to a waterpark last weekend and I forgot to apply sunscreen.  As mom’s do, I was busy rushing around, putting sunscreen on the kids, changing diapers, finding somewhere to nurse, the list goes on and on.  Thankfully, my dad pointed out that I was quickly turning red.  I dropped everything (not literally, of course) and sprayed myself down.  I’m still a little pink, but not near as burned as I would have been.  (Thanks, Dad!)
