Simple Things You Can Do for Your Spouse

As a stay at home mom, I try to to always show my love and gratitude for my husband.  He supports our family and wouldn’t have it any other way.  I feel so blessed, because  the norm is for both parents to work, but I am able to stay at home with my son.

Get his coffee ready.
Before bed every night, I get my husband’s coffee ready to go for the morning.  We have a programmable coffee maker, so I set it to start a few minutes before he gets out of bed.  I also have a coffee cup, spoon, sugar, and to-go mug set out and ready for him.

Lay his clothes out.
Hubby wears uniform shirts and khakis to work, so I hang those in the bathroom.  If your hubby doesn’t wear uniforms, this may not be possible.  I also make sure his wallet, keys, etc. are all together.  Just recently, I added his undershirt and socks to my list.  Admittedly, I do this as much for myself.  Having everything in the bathroom keeps him from digging through drawers while I am still in bed!

Write him a note.
At least once a week, I stick a little note on top of his wallet for him to find in the morning.  It is usually something simple, thanking him for something, telling him what a great husband and father he is, and letting him know I hope he has a great day at work.

Clean the house.
Groan!  My husband has flat out told me that it means a lot to him when he comes home to a clean house.  In his eyes, that is a way for me to show him that I appreciate that he goes to work every day so I can stay home with our son.  I completely agree with him and I am glad he let me know.

Cook dinner.
It sounds simple, but making sure you have dinner on the table at night is a simply way to show your gratitude for your husband.  This is probably the hardest for me.  I try to have something ready to cook when he arrives home and sometimes I will have dinner ready by the time he gets home, but it doesn’t happen all the time.

Agree?  Disagree?  What are some simple things you do for your spouse?  I’d love to hear them in the comments!

  • >Those are all really sweet! Letting my hubby have control over the remote usually makes him happy when he gets home, lol. It's the little things! I also will pick up a special snack at the store for him just to show I was thinking of him.

  • >Awesome – I really need to do the coffee more often. im so lazy 🙂 It's such a small gesture and it means the world to him. Thanks for the reminders!

  • >It's important to take care of each other, and doing thoughtful things is a great way to make the other person's day better and show how much you appreciate them. I love to cook for my fiance, and he usually makes coffee for me since I'm the big caffeine addict! 🙂
