General Mills reduces sugar!

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  If you are anything like me, you don’t have time for biscuits and gravy every morning.  That, my dears friends, is when I turn to cereal.  Actually, I eat cereal for dinner sometimes too.

I was happy to learn that General Mills announced they will be reducing the sugar in cereals advertised to kids 12 and under.  General Mills has already been reducing the sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients like calcium and vitamin D and providing whole grain. They are taking it one step further now and reducing it to single digit grams of sugar per serving!

A few other high points when it comes to cereal:

  • Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.
  • Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.
  • More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

If you would like to learn more about kids and cereals, you can visit the Cereal Health and Wellness page.  General Mills is offering a $1 off coupon for one of four cereals.  You can print that coupon HERE.  The couponer in me thinks you should keep your eye out for a good sale to pair with this high value coupon and get yourself some cheap, reduced sugar cereal!

I received this opportunity, the information provided, and free product from General Mills and My Blog Spark.
