Some items featured in this back to school organizing post were provided by Staples. All thoughts and opinions remain my own, as always.
August is here and that means our local schools will be back in session soon. As a homeschooling family, we don’t follow the same schedule so we won’t begin school until September. August will be dedicated to finishing up our new school room, organizing and planning for the upcoming school year, and going on a family vacation! On a whim, I decided to finally transform Bella’s room into the play & school room we needed which will help me keep the rest of the house in shape.
Our new school room is still very much a work in progress, but it’s getting there and I hope to share the details soon. One of my favorite organizing items we use for school is the 10 drawer rolling cart. I use it to sort and store Bryson’s school work and games for each week. I reset it each weekend so I’m not scrambling to find what I need each day. It holds books, his All About Reading curriculum, craft supplies, worksheets, puzzles, games, etc.
My mom has this same rolling cart and she uses it in her bathroom to store make-up and hair accessories. The possibilities are endless and it’s such a handy little cart to have around. Before I created our school room, the 10 drawer cart had a home beside my desk in the kitchen and dining area. Have I mentioned how glad I am to have a school room!? I’m sure we’ll still “do school” all over the house, but I’m so thankful to finally have an area to store everything together, in one spot.
Another one of my favorite things lately is the high back manager’s chair from Staples. My old office chair was so worn out that it was near embarrassing. I wanted to take a picture to show y’all, but my husband said that was a bad idea, haha. It was missing the fabric in places, the padding was gone, and it was uncomfortable. It was actually Justin’s idea to replace it with the Staples Turcotte Luxura chair and I’m so glad he mentioned it. I was so use to my old chair that I didn’t realize how badly it needed replaced! I spend a lot of time in front of my computer and I have been thrilled with the new chair from Staples. You cannot beat the $59.99 price tag either- totally worth it!
Are you doing some extra organizing for the new school year?
I would love to hear about your favorite storage and organizing items!
That looks amazing! I wish I was that organized. I love the square cubbies, we use them everywhere in our house.
You school organization is so nice. I love all the colors and storage you have!
I am in love with the colorful rolling cart. It would be perfect in my craft room.
I held off forever on buying those storage cubes, but I’m so glad I did. They really are great for storing all the little things. That rolling cart looks like it would be the perfect addition to our cube unit! I’m considering homeschooling in a year or two, so I definitely need to consider organization options. I love seeing how other parents are doing it. Thanks!
We haven’t started the back-to-school organizing yet. I’ve got a lot to do!
You are now my idol. I wish I could get my house this organized – especially with the start of the school year.
I think that’s the exact office chair my boyfriend picked out at Staples. I bought one there too, but I had to have arms that could lift out of my way.
I LOVE this! So fun and bright! You may have just inspired me to do our playroom!
Ah, I need you to come to my house and help me get organized! I’m terrible at it! Everything you’ve done looks so great!
I’ve been working on getting the crafts organized. Your school room looks great!
Great ideas! I’ll be doing something similar for my new office soon.
I love the 10 drawer storage cart, so many possibilities!
I love it! I’m going to have to refer back to this post in a few weeks. We’re starting our first year homeschooling this year. But, we’re moving in a couple of weeks and then starting school a couple of weeks after that. I think it’s going to be a work in progress for us for a while!
My favorite is the “Be Calm” poster in the middle of all the action!
Everything looks great and in its place, making it so much easier to keep little ones helping with the organization. We have similar hubbies but they are all full of books.
We are in the process of a big homeschool reorganization. It feels so good so get reorganized each year!
The room looks fantastic! We are getting ready to finish our playroom and I’d love to do stuff like this. I also need to organize a workspace for me!
Considering we just moved, it’s a mess. Love what you did though, it looks fantastic!
Love the rolling cart idea, and that is a great price on that chair. Thanks for sharing the great ideas!
