From House to Home

Master Bath

Our master bath is one of the rooms that isn’t quite finished.  The shower still needs tiled, a few walls need another coat of white paint, and there is some trim left to install.  Buuuut y’all, even incomplete, I can’t explain my love for this room.  For 10 years, we lived in a home with 1 bathtub/ shower combo.  At times, there were 11 people in that house.  In 2018, we finally put in a second toilet, but continued on with our one full bathroom.  It was a very rare occurrence for me to take a bath without interruption.  And by interruption, I mean one of the little kids always had to poop while I was in the tub.

So as you can imagine, this master bathroom is a dream come true.  I imagined a space where I could fully relax.  That’s why the walls are white and the decor is minimal.  Even my eyes can rest in here.  The only thing in here that isn’t minimal- plants.  When designing this room, I told Justin I wanted a jungle surrounding my tub.  I’m not finished with that part.  Plant hooks are on my to-do list.  Being a plant mama has become one of my favorite (and only) hobbies.

The freestanding tub is part of the Kohler Sunstruck line.  I went all in and splurged on the Heated BubbleMassage tub.  Long, hot baths are one of my favorite things.  I carve out time at least once a week to spend a few hours in the tub alone while Justin takes over all kid duties.  It’s hard to find reviews of this tub online so I was a little worried, but I’m so glad I ordered it.  Not only do I love it, but so does the entire family.  Kohler Purist faucets complete the look.  We went with Formica laminate countertops throughout the entire house.  Stone was never on the table, because I’ve always been satisfied with laminate.

Breaking the rules, I mixed metals in our master bath and our kitchen.  The crystal chandelier is a Pottery Barn dupe from Joss and Main.  I snagged it for $165, but I just checked and the price has increased to over $200.  More than one person has assumed it was Pottery Barn, but no.  The sconces are from an Etsy shop- Mod Creation Studio.  I searched high and low for the perfect lighting in here and these industrial sconces are perfect. The seller was easy to work with and I would highly recommend them.  They have some super cool and unique lighting.
