Can you believe it’s almost October!? It’s time to start planning for the holiday season, booking those last minute family photo sessions, and ordering Christmas cards. Sending Christmas cards seems to be a dying trend, but I still totally love it. From choosing my favorite design, adding photos, and handwriting each name and address- there is just something special about it to me. The folks at Minted kindly offered to send us a credit to use so I have been browsing the Christmas card selection at Minted trying to figure out how I want to go about cards this year.
Since Brynlee is due during the first week of December, I’m going to hold off on ordering cards and instead combine birth announcements with New Years cards. Something tells me that I won’t have time to get cards in the mail before Christmas between snuggling with a newborn and keeping up with a toddler and preschooler. I’ve found a few of my favorite designs that can be used as both holiday cards and birth announcements.

Minted offers more than just cards. I am head over heels for their children’s wall art selection and can see a few pieces hanging in our schoolroom. I order calendars every year as gifts for grandparents and Minted has some fabulous new photo wall calendars by indie designers. For less than $30, photo calendars are the gifts that continue giving all throughout the year. With each new month, there is a new surprise with fun pictures to admire throughout the month. I started the tradition of giving photo wall calendars when Bryson was a baby and I think the grandparents would probably cry if I didn’t give them each year. I always order an extra for me too, because even though all of those photos are stored on my computer, it’s special to flip through the calendar and see how the kids change each month and relive the memories from that same month the previous year. If you have a hard to buy for parent or grandparent, go for a photo calendar. They will LOVE it!
Do you send Christmas cards?
What is your favorite design from Minted?
I think photo calenders make such a great gift. You’re wise to hold off on your cards til the new year.
I still send Christmas cards and hope I do for a long time to come. But I have never sent a customized/personalized one. I always thought they were too expensive ~ but these are affordable and I really like the year in review one!
