With the weather getting colder, I thought the Smart Toss Math Game from Learning Resources would be good for indoor play. It allows Bryson to run, jump, and throw things while working on number recognition and getting some energy out. What more could a boy ask for, right? He will be FOUR next week (O.M.G. How?) so while this game is geared for older children, it’s easy to water it down and use for younger kids. Instead of working on addition and subtraction, we use it for fun and some simple learning.
Looking for some major-league math fun? This tossing game targets simple addition and subtraction skills, and is a hole-in-one with young sports fans!
- Provides 4 different game designs—baseball, bowling, golf and basketball
- Engages kinesthetic learners with high–interest sports theme
- Includes 10 canvas bean bags measuring 3″ in diameter—enough for small–group play
- Features handy storage pockets, easy–carry handle, and durable, wipe–clean vinyl surface plus an Activity Guide
- Stores easily, folding flat to 20″L x 18″H
- Ages 5+
I really like that everything you need is stored right in the playing board. The bean bags fit in the storage bags that are a part of the board and close with Velcro. Then, the entire board fold flats and has a handle. This makes the Smart Toss Math Game super portable and easy to take and go. Allow Bryson to show you how easy it is: 😀
How we play Smart Toss:
First, Bryson chooses which board he wants to play: baseball, golf, tennis, or bowling. He almost always chooses baseball.
Then, we gather all of the bean bags and go over the numbers. Sometimes, he will pick and number and tell me what it is before throwing it to score. Other times, I will call out a number and he has to find that bean bag to throw.
After he finishes his turn, he calls out number to me and I throw.
At this age, we don’t keep score. Instead, we focus on the time spent together and basic skills. He LOVES playing Smart Toss with me. We usually play several rounds at a time.
One winner will receive a Smart Toss Math Game from Learning Resources. This is a Rafflecopter giveaway and is open to US residents, 18+. If you are reading this via e-mail or feed, please click over to the post to enter and allow sufficient time for the form to load. Thank you!
