It’s no secret that I love to save money as much as I love a good DIY project. We remodeled our entire house before moving in and installing new counter-tops was part of that process. We budgeted for them and they were desperately needed. But, what if you just don’t have the money for new counters? I have a solution for you and it’s less than $100!
Giani Granite offers Italian Granite paint for counter-tops in a variety of shades and colors. My parents live a beautiful home, but it had simple, white, builder-grade counter-tops in all of the bathrooms. After living with it for years, my mom was ready to break down and have new counter-tops installed. Right about that same time, I heard about this counter-top paint and offered it to her for review. She jumped at the chance and has now transformed all three bathrooms with Giani Granite paint.
Each kit comes with everything you need to complete your counter-top makeover. Inside you’ll find a DVD, illustrated instructions, a practice board, a primer coat, 3 mineral colors, a polyurethane top coat, roller, two pads, a sponge, and a foam brush. There are several options available and you can create different looks with each kit.
We went with Sicilan Sand kit. Each of the three counter-tops my mom completed has a different look and they all look great. The overall process takes a while, but most of that time is drying time. I would definitely suggest watching the DVD, reading the instructions, and using your practice board so you find the correct application for the shade you want to achieve.
You get a lot of bang for your buck with this product and it’s a simple weekend project. My mom gave three bathrooms a facelift with one kit- that’s less than $25 per room. I would highly recommend it!
Each Giani Granite kit retails for $69.95. You can pick them up online or in stores at Walmart.
We received this product to assist with this post. No other compensation was provided and all opinions remain my own, as always.
Oh wow I would love to try the Giani Granite kit on my kitchen counter-top! However, I’m thinking the top has to be in real good condition for the kit to work?
Because it has a black primer, I think it would probably be okay. The primer covers your existing top completely. If it isn’t smooth, you might could sand it a little before starting.
that’s freaking awesome!!!
How have I never seen this! How amazing. I need to get some for my kitchen.
How cool!!

How do you clean it, Does finish stand up to heavy use?
Hey Carol,
Thanks for your comment. As long as you don’t use abrasive cleaners (Comet, etc.) it holds up just as your regular countertops. A sealant coat is the last step and you are good to go! Let me know what you think if you give it a try.
It’s been several years since you did your counters, How are they holding up?
I have actually done this. I could not believe how it changed the look of the kitchen. I was terrified and thought for awhile that I had made a critical mistake in doing it. You have to wait til you are done to really see the beautiful change.
