Shake Up Your Routine & Grab a Spoon – #Giveaway

Sweet summertime.

It’s almost here!

No more being cooped up in the house.

No more coldness.  No more jackets or sweatpants.

No more excuses.

Summer means it’s time for me to get outside and get active.  I love that we have a beautiful local lake to walk around.  It’s perfect for the entire family and the scenery is gorgeous.  Even with the lake just minutes away, I need a plan for those not-so-pretty days.  I recently splurged on a treadmill so even on rainy days, I now have no excuse not to exercise.

The countdown to summer has officially begun and we all want to look and feel our best, especially during these months. However, exercising, and maintaining a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle can be daunting, but with the right tools it can be as easy as picking up a spoon! This spring, Keri Glassman and Dannon Oikos are encouraging you to ‘Grab a Spoon ‘til June’ with rich and creamy 0% fat Dannon Oikos® Greek nonfat yogurt to help you stay on track towards your goals while at the same time adding spice to your normal routine!

Here are some of  tips from Keri to help you get started – be sure to visit OikosYogurt.com and the Oikos Facebook page for more tips, messages, advice, recipes and more – and when it’s snack time, don’t forget to Grab a Spoon!

Every Meal Is A “Monday Morning”. Focus on eating better, one meal at a time. Otherwise it can be easy to get discouraged – forget the worry! Your only mission: Make the next meal you eat nutritious, balanced and satisfying.

Don’t Eat Around A Craving. Honor your craving with a conscious indulgence – take a few deep breaths and find a healthy alternative! Try satisfying your sweet tooth with Dannon Oikos® Greek nonfat yogurt, it is nutritious but still has an incredible taste.

No-Excuses Exercise. Sometimes the biggest barrier to working out is just getting there so a good option can be to make it as easy as possible—throw in a workout DVD or even going for a walk takes away excuses and gets you moving!

Satisfying Proteins. A moderate-protein balanced diet with a reasonable amount of fiber, carbohydrates and the appropriate amount of healthy fats is the best way to maintain a healthy weight. Dairy is a great source of protein, try a creamy Greek nonfat yogurt like Dannon Oikos®–it has twice the protein of regular lowfat yogurt2.

2 Oikos Greek Nonfat yogurt: 12 -14g Protein (24%DV), Regular lowfat yogurt: 5g protein (10%DV) per 5.3oz.

One lucky reader will receive a signed copy of Keri Glassman’s new book Slim, Calm, Sexy Diet.

  • I am shaking up my diet (and my family’s!) by being more label conscious these days. I am trying to stay away from high fructose corn syrup (though some things still get in the mix) and pick more organic options. I have started this mainly with eggs, carrots and other raw vegetables, milk and chicken. I am slowly working my way into the “organic” and “green” aisles and finding new favoite foods my family enjoys on the healthier side of the spectrum.

  • I am “shaking up” my diet and my family’s diet this summer, by having a GARDEN! The fresh wholesome veggies will be much healthier than the junk food we are use to. My 7yr old daughter really enjoys helping out! (But I have to watch close when I let her pull weeds. LOL) We have even started a compost pile to use in next year’s garden. Olivia has learned that the squash, tomatoes, etc have blooms that mature to veggies. Also, she has started asking which of the foods at the table are healthy so she knows which ones to eat more of. I wish I had started eating healthier when my teens were smaller but I guess it’s never to late to “shake” things up!

  • I’m shaking things up to try to decompress. My daughter has just finished her kindergarten year and I resigned from my job to spend more time with her and her sister. We need to focuss on more healthy, nourishing food rather than the fast, thrown together things ee’ve been eating. I want more energy to enjoy our time together.

  • I am shaking things up at the River! We grille almost all of our food while at the River. Can’t do that so much in the winter time. Love all those fresh vegetables on the grille.
