I’m sharing some of my favorite Coffee Inspired Memories with you today as part of a sponsored campaign with Collective Bias and Coffee-mate.
Coffee. You know how music can take you back to a certain moment? How it can make you feel all of those emotions as if you are right there in that moment all over again? Coffee does that for me. There is no other food or drink that holds as many memories as a cup of coffee does for me.
I begin each and every day with a cup of coffee swirled with favorite creamer- usually Coffee-mate’s French Vanilla, but sometimes I’ll grab a seasonal flavor like Pumpkin Spice or Peppermint Mocha. If I’m lucky, I’ll enjoy my first cup before the kids wake. On the rare occasion, I might even catch a few minutes with Justin, drinking coffee and chatting in the silence of our little house as the kids sleep, before he heads to work for the day.
Favorite Coffee Inspired Memories
I like my coffee sweet and flavorful which is why I have to have Coffee-mate creamer. My need for sweet goes back to some of my first coffee drinking memories. Growing up, I loved going to my Gangan’s house every weekend. We would watch movies, hit all the junk stores, and she always cooked breakfast. With breakfast, she would fix me up a cup of her “special” coffee. No one could make a cup of coffee like her. I know now that’s because it was more milk and sugar than coffee, but oh, I loved it. When I was about 5 years old, my first cousin came along and a little over a year later, my second cousin was born. Brianna, Kolby, & I would all stay the night at Gangan’s on the weekend and sometimes drive her crazy and Gangan would always, always cook us a great breakfast. Breakfast is just her thing. She does the same for my kids now.
We’d all sit around that table with our cups coffee or in Kolby’s case, Gangan’s famous chocolate milk. If I knew then what I know now, I would have soaked those moments in a little more. I never imagined the day when I would be the only cousin left here. Brianna is married and living in Idaho so I only see her a few times a year. She’s expecting her first baby and I would love nothing more than for our children to spend time together like she and I did at Gangan’s. Maybe with less fighting.
And Kolby, we said “See you later.” to him last year. Those memories of gathering around the breakfast table with my cup of coffee, of fighting with my little cousins, and of watching cartoons are what I remember most. He was 16 when we lost him, but I still saw him as a little boy. He was always the baby- so innocent and mischievous all rolled into one somehow.
My coffee inspired memories don’t stop there and I’m sure I’ll continue creating new ones. From rocking on the back porch at my Mawmaw’s house, chatting with her over a cup of coffee, to watching the kids play in the backyard at my parent’s house as we sip on coffee in the afternoons, many of my favorite moments are made better with a cup of sweet coffee.
