Homemade baby food is so easy to make. Bryson and Bella both ate homemade baby food and I plan to do the same with Baby #3. I didn’t not use a baby food maker with Bryson or Bella and I thought that the process was simple, so why would I want one? After trying out the Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker courtesy of Moms Meet, my mind has changed. Homemade baby food just got even easier to make with less effort and time. While probably not an absolute necessity, the Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker would be a great gift for any new mom and after having tried one, I would buy one myself.
Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker Process
Since we don’t currently have a baby in the house, I wanted to try out a recipe from the included booklet that the kids and I could enjoy. The Banana Blueberry Puree recipe sounded delicious and I knew it would be great to mix in yogurt or oatmeal. I used 1 ripe banana and 1/2 cup frozen blueberries for this puree. The Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker does all the work for you. It has a large basket for the food and if you want to mix flavors, it comes with a small basket that fits inside the larger basket so you can cook two foods at the same time. The foods stay separate during the cooking process if you use both baskets, then you can mix them or leave them.
With the food in the steaming basket, place it in the cooking bowl and twist the lid closed. Place the bowl on the base and lock it into place. After filling the steaming basket with the food, you’ll add water to the water reservoir. There are three different water levels and the instruction manual walks you through how to choose which level for each food. Screw the knob back on the water reservoir and press the on/off button to begin cooking. The green light will come on and you are done for a while. Of course, if you are like me, you’ll stand there and watch the machine work because it’s just that cool.
After about 14 minutes, the Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker will be finished steaming the food. Remove the cooking bowl carefully and allow it to cool for a few minutes. When you remove the lid, , handle with care because there will be hot steam. Pour the food out of the steaming basket and into the cooking bowl. Replace the lid and place it back onto the base. Turn the blender button to the left or right, depending on the texture you want, and watch it puree your food. You are done!
The hardest part of using the Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker was getting the lid off, believe it or not. Thankfully, the manual states that it gets easier after a few tries, so that’s nothing to worry about. I cannot wait to use the Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker to make baby #3’s food. It’s so much quicker than my old method of peeling, baking, straining, and milling! If you plan to make homemade baby food, I believe this is a worthy investment and time-saver.

I had so much fun making all of Sawyer’s baby food when he started out! It was so much fun too- and a bit addicting lol
Haha! I know what you mean about the lid. But once I figured it out, it was easy! I love mine!!

I lost my manual. You don’t know where I can get a copy (need the chart with the water levels required for various foods).
