My love of decorating is no secret. I truly enjoy making our home beautiful and I’m constantly changing things up. When the mood strikes, I just go with it whether that means rearranging the furniture, throwing some paint on the walls, or crafting some new decor. In my eyes, our home is always a work in progress and things are tweaked to my evolving tastes regularly.
Some people, like my Gangan, don’t have the decorating spark. Sure, she likes to have a pretty home, but she doesn’t exactly enjoy the process. It’s been years since she decorated for Christmas or put up a tree. So when I was given the chance to decorate it forward as a Kmart Holiday Blogger, she instantly came to mind. My mom and I spent an entire day at her house (thanks Mom!) working to bring a little holiday cheer to her home.
We used a Trim Kit from the Country Living Homespun Holiday collection at Kmart. It is seriously one of the cutest lines ever. It reminds me of homemade cookies and Grandma’s kitchen. There are cupcakes and ice cream cone ornaments, kitchen utensil ornaments, and lots of adorable red gingham. The Homespun Holiday tree skirt features red flock polkadots and a ruffle border. Matching round ornaments are available in red, pink and silver. The garland, oh the garland. I can’t find a link for it, but ya’ll, it is pure sweetness- full of colorful fabric yo-yos all sewn together. LOVE.
This Gingerbread line is part of the Homespun Holiday collection too. Instead of adding the ornaments to the tree, I propped them up on Gangan’s mantel. They look so happy and they added a fun touch. Over them, we added some garland and a tree top bow from the same line. The garland actually goes up and wraps on windows on either side, but I didn’t get a photo of it. You’ll just have to take my word for it, it looks awesome!
I like to spread little touches throughout an entire room, so I used these star burst ornaments in the doorway. We alternated lengths and adhered them with some clear tape. It’s very simple, but it adds sparkle!
I dropped a few of those same star bursts into a vase for more easy decor.
And finally, here is an up close look at two of my favorite ornaments from the Homespun Holiday collection. Overall, Gangan was excited to have a tree up and her home decorated for the season. She was thrilled with the items we used from Kmart and couldn’t quit talking about how pretty her living room is now! I had a blast working with my mom to bring holiday cheer into a home that would have otherwise had none. We may have started a new tradition!

These are some of the prettiest decorations I have ever seen. I loved the fact that I got to take part in the decorating. It was so pretty. I loved the ice cream cones and cupcakes. These are adorable and will last for years. Maybe we have started a tradition. The first Sunday in December every year , we go to Mom’s /Gan Gan’s and decorate.
Thanks for all of your help, mom!
