The house was never quiet enough to vlog this week, so I’m going to answer this week’s Monday Mingle questions with text only.
1. What do you do when your child refuses to eat what you made for dinner?
Bryson is only 2 and he’s a decent eater. I don’t expect him to like everything we like now or ever. I know that he’ll eat when he gets hungry and I really don’t worry about it. If he just isn’t hungry, we don’t force him to eat. If he wants something different, we offer a few choices. If all else fails, we give him a hotdog and call it good, ha.
2. How do you handle a grumpy kid in the store?
My #1 piece of advice is to make sure you’re child is rested before heading to the store. If you take a tired kid to the store, you are just asking for a meltdown. (Ask me how I know.) I keep snacks on hand and a hot wheel or some other small toy for Bryson to play with. If things get too bad, we go to the nearest bathroom and have a “cool down” talk. If nothing works, we immediately check-out and go home. No reason to stick around and let the situation worsen.
3. Why is being a mom (or dad) the best thing ever?
I’m not sure there are sufficient words to answer this question. I feel like being “Mom” is my calling in life- right there with being “Wife” to my husband. My family completes me. From hearing the pitter-patter of toddler feet coming down the hall way each morning to reading a story and giving the last kiss of each day- it’s wonderful. There is nothing else I’d rather do that simply be mama.
