10 Weeks Strong! #breastfeeding

038

No make-up & my hair is a wreck, but it’s gravy, baby!

This little gal & I have been nursing for 10 weeks and 2 days as of today.  I am so proud of the both of us.  She is a champion nurser and I’m so glad I didn’t give up when she was nursing 24 hours a day.  At her two month check-up last week, she weighed in at a whopping 11lb 1oz.  Only six days before, she weighed 10lb 4oz, so I’d say she’s getting plenty to eat!  I’m gonna tell you- there is no better feeling than knowing I am 100% nourishing my baby girl and that she is thriving thanks to me.  It’s an amazing feeling and it only makes me regret giving up so soon with Bryson.  I love knowing that she hasn’t had not one drop of formula.  I can’t explain the passion I feel for nursing and I want to reach out and help other mom’s achieve their breastfeeding goals.  My goal?  I’d like to nurse her until her first birthday, at least.  I’ve already reached one of my goals- we’ve nursed in public several times-  in stores, restaurants, and at the aquarium last weekend.  It gets easier every time and it helps that I have an awesome, 100% supportive, booby advocating husband!  We both agree that we’d like to look around and see more nursing moms.  I wish it was the norm, ya know?

Just yesterday, I pulled out my nursing cover (love it!) at my grandparent’s house.  My pawpaw (who is hilarious, btw) said something to the extent of “I don’t know why you think you’ve gotta cover up.  You use to see them (breasts) every where.  If you’ve seen one, you’ve pretty much seen ‘em all!  All you see now-a-days is half naked women with the their boobs hanging out on TV.  If they can be like that, then you can sure as hell feed your child!”  Totally cracked me up!

I am currently in the process of putting together a breastfeeding event.  There are some wonderful sponsors already lined up!  I will share tips, places to find support, and products for the nursing mama.  It’s going to be a lot of fun.  If you have used a product that you think I should include, please let me know and I’ll check it out.  Also, if you would like to sponsor this event, there are still openings available.  Please e-mail me at whitney.baugh (at) yahoo (dot) com for details.
