Sausage Balls from Scratch

Makes 24 sausage balls.
  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne or red pepper
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups grated cheddar (1/2 pound)
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup milk
  1. Preheat over to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, pepper, red pepper, and baking powder. Add in cheese and toss to coat. Add in sausage, melted butter, and milk, mix well with hands. Shape mixture into balls and place on a greased/ sprayed baking sheet. Bake about 25 minutes, until balls are golden brown and cooked through.
