Smoky Mountain Family Vacation – Home

If I’m honest, I wondered more than once if it was really possible to vacation with a toddler and a preschooler.  Had I completely lost my mind, thinking we could have a fun family get-away with little ones?  I knew that planning would play a huge role in how our vacation turned out- not just planning activities, but also making sure to plan for downtime.  I wanted to make sure we had a flexible schedule that included time for rest and snacks as well as plenty of fun adventures.  So how did it go?  It went amazingly well.  Better than I imagined possible, to be completely honest.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing our Smoky Mountain Family Vacation series with details about where we stayed, the activities we enjoyed, and our favorite foods, of course.  For now, I just wanted to check in and say thanks for sticking around while I took the week off.  It was only right for me to step away from work if I expected Justin to completely step away for the week and it was a nice, much needed break.

We are glad to be home even if leaving the beautiful Smoky Mountains was a bit bittersweet.  This weekend is our local UFO Days festival and next Saturday, Justin & I will be attending our first Atlanta Braves game.  In typical procrastinator fashion, I have nothing planned for Bryson’s preschool or Bella’s tot school so I have a lot to do before September.  I have my sugar test and anatomy ultrasound scan for Brynlee on Tuesday so I’m looking forward to seeing her again.  (Not so much looking forward to drinking pure sugar though.)  I signed Bryson and Bella up for story time at our local library and we missed the first week while on vacation so we have that to look forward to on Thursday.

While you are waiting on our vacation posts, feel free to hop over to the It’s Gravy, Baby! Facebook page where I shared updates and shots while on vacation!  We were blessed with some awesome Smoky Mountain Family Vacation sponsors so check those out too:  Wilderness at the Smokies, Ripley’s Gatlinburg Attractions & Aquarium, Ober Gatlinburg, Clarion Inn Pigeon Forge, and Drive STI/ Kia!

We are headed to a church picnic tonight.  Hope y’all have a great Sunday and a fabulous week!

  • Glad it went well. Always nice to relax when you can. I am wondering how to plan for spring break next year with my pre-schooler and the new baby.

  • Is that the place that had a train in the waterpark area? I remember seeing it from one of the pictures from Instagram. Landon would love going there!! Me too.. Maybe one year we’ll travel south for a vacation. 🙂

  • I love those photos. I would love to take my family to the Smoky Mountains sometime. I went when I was a kid so it would be neat to take my kids.
