I am continuously amazed at how technology grows, changes, and improves. At 3 years old, Bryson probably knows as much about electronics as I did at 10 years old! He can work my iPhone like it’s nothing, using the touch screen to play games, write letters, etc. So when he got his little hands on the new VTech MobiGo 2 Touch Learning System, it was no surprise that he was playing within seconds.
Right out of the box, the VTech MobiGo 2 only required 4 AA batteries and it was ready to go. The set-up could not have been easier! I highly recommend reusable batteries for kids game systems- they are well worth the investment. It comes with 2 fun games already installed plus a photo gallery and an art studio. 3 free game downloads were also available, so we took advantage of those right away.
In the box, you’ll find the VTech MobiGo 2, a user’s manual, USB cable, stylus, and the Learning Lodge Navigator installation CD.
The Learning Lodge Navigator is where you can keep up with your child’s progress and download games, e-books, and apps. I am highly impressed with the amount of apps offered- 17 pages worth just for the VTech MobiGo 2 and most (maybe all?) are on sale for $2.99. The regular price is $4.99 per app and even then, you are getting a great deal on education and creative games.
Game cartridges are also available, but we haven’t purchased any yet. We’ll probably build up our game library for birthdays and other special occasions.
VTech MobiGo 2 features:
Motion Control– Forward, back, up, & down! Tilt the MobiGo 2 to control the game.
Touch Screen– Tap, flick, rub, spin, & drag your finger to play learning games.
Keyboard Games– Use the slide-out QWERTY keyboard to get kids familiar with computer skills.
Sound-activated Games– The new built-in microphone enriches the game play experience.
VTech MobiGo 2 Games
So far we have the two games that were installed when we received the system, then we used our 3 downloads.
Mother Duck -Help the babies line up behind their mama in alphabetical order. Teaches letter recognition and the alphabet order.
Flower Garden-Plant seeds, water & fertilize them, then watch them grow. Keep the pests away!
Blocks O’ Fun! -Drop the block in the correct place to build images or switch to free-play mode and build anything you like. (Bryson’s favorite!)
I am very satisfied with the games we have and Bryson plays each of them. We’ll definitely add to our collection, but I’m glad to see each game hold Bryson’s attention for quite a while. He hasn’t asked for any new games since I downloaded the three above.
VTech MobiGo 2 Final Thoughts
At $59.99, I believe the VTech MobiGo 2 Touch Learning System is well worth the money. It’s already been dropped several times, so I know it’s durable. Carrying cases are available and we’ll probably purchase one soon. The amount of downloaded educational apps and games at affordable prices is fantastic. The educational aspect of this system far exceeds any other system we’ve tried; kids can learn basic skills including math, vocabulary, spelling, reading logic, drawing, and more. The QWERTY keyboard is one of my favorite features, because it helps Bryson learn how to use a computer. The touch screen combined with the motion and sound-activated games encourages motor and speech skills. The Vtech MobiGo 2 is geared toward kids ages 3 – 8 and I can definitely see Bryson using it for years to come. Overall, I think it’s a great buy and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
If I could think of something bad to say about this VTech Mobi-Go system, I would just to keep it real, but honestly- we can’t find anything bad about it! The only feature I would like to see added is an automatic shut-off where when left for a certain amount of time, the system would shut itself off.
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for VTech. I received product samples to facilitate my review.
That looks really cool! Almost like a educational version of the PSP or Gameboy!!
This looks awesome, I think Mason would love this! He’s been playing on my phone recently and I’m impressed with how good he is!
That’s so awesome! Where were all these cool toys when we were kids?!
We have the Leapsters for this kids. This looks like a great option too!
I love VTech products. My daughter is asking for this so we’ll probably wait until closer to Christmas to buy it. I like your idea of an automatic shut-off!
Sweet! Princess needs a handheld so I will look into this for christmas. I agree an auto shut-off should be something they add. My kids constantly leave their hand held games on then the batteries die within a day and it gets quite expensive!
[…] a bit like VTech show room. We have the VTech Musical Octopus in bathtub and the kids loved the VTech MobiGo 2 so much that my mom purchased a second one so they could each have their own. We received the […]
We just bought this for my son for christmas and I was wondering if you can use any of the vtech game cartridges like you can with the leap frog systems?? I have a friend that has some older cartridges from an older vtech system and was wondering if I would be able to use them
You can use any of the MobiGo games with the MobiGo2, even the older ones. Other VTech cartridges like the InnoTab games will not work though. I hope that answers your question! With that said, Amazon has a fantastic deal on some MobiGo games right now- as low as $6! We bought the first mobigo for our sons third birthday and he absolutely loved it but unfortunately he has played it so much/ roughly that it is barely work so we will definitely be purchasing the mobigo2 for our sons fifth birthday in a few months
Hi I recently purchased mobigo 2 for my 3 yr old son and i was keen on downloading the alphabet writing game for him since the box shows that alphabet writing game is available for download but upon visiting the learning lodge I couldn’t find any such game. Did I perhaps miss it or has it been discontinued or it never existed in the first place?
I love this product. This looks like a great option too! These unique gifts help bring alive the magic of the holiday season. Really Amazon has a fantastic deal on some MobiGo games right now.
