Green Kid Crafts Monthly Subscription Service {Giveaway}

If you’ve been around here any time at all, you know that we enjoy all kinds of kids crafts and activities.  Making our own art and craft supplies like homemade play dough and edible finger paint is the norm, but when it comes to putting actual crafts together, I’m not very creative.  That’s where Green Kid Crafts comes in.

As the name suggests, Green Kid Crafts is a monthly subscription service that offers eco-friendly craft projects geared toward children.  It is a mom-owned, green company that prides itself with the ability to offer natural, sustainable, and responsible choices for craft projects.  The kits include recycled content whenever possible and all craft supplies are recyclable.

Green Kid Crafts Subscription Kits

We received the June 2012 kit to craft & create with and I can honestly say, I’m am very impressed!  Each kit contains different projects- for instance, the June kit included a pirate loot set, a wooden wind-chime craft, and a scrapbook kit.  It all came nicely packaged in a 100% recycled box with each of the three kits separated in compostable cello bags and ready for use.  An inspiration guide (printed on recycled paper, of course) was included with 8 more project ideas using supplies commonly found around the house.  I spotted at least 3 or 4 projects that I want to try!

I could go on and on about the little extra touches  that make Green Kid Crafts an awesome subscription service, but I know you all want to see the kit!  Right?  Green Kid Crafts is proof that you can be earth friendly and recycle while also being creative and fun!  Other craft companies should take note.

Green Kid Crafts Pirate Kit

Pirate Loot

Supplies Needed from Home- Scissors, Glue

Just looking at the photo on the instructions was a bit intimidating for me.  I’m all about painting and making a batch of play dough, but making a pirate hat?  I wasn’t so sure.  I dove in anyways and you know what?  It was easy!  So easy that I laughed at myself for being intimidated in the first place.  Bryson and I accomplished this craft project while Bella napped.  He loved it and even wore it to Nana & Pop’s later that night.

GreenKidCrafts Wind Chime

Wind Chime

Supplies Needed from Home – Paint, Paintbrush, Glue

The wind chime was definitely Bryson’s favorite and he was able to complete it with very little help from me.  I set him up with the paint & brushes then he dove right in.  He painted each side red allowing it to dry.  Then I stepped in and dabbed the glue on so he could add his decorations.  He is super proud of his wind chime and he proudly displays it in his room.  (It doesn’t get much wind there, but he doesn’t mind.)

Green Kid Crafts Scrapbook Kit

Scrapbook Kit

Supplies Needed from Home – Glue, Photos/ Magazines

As a former scrapbooker, I was excited to see the folks at Green Kid Crafts included this cute accordion scrapbook complete with tons of embellishments.  I thought Bryson would need some help with these, but he insisted on doing it himself.  I handed him a glue stick and let him glue and add the details as he pleased.  They really packed a lot into this one- ribbon, felt, paper, stickers, etc.  He worked on this for quite a while and still has a couple pages left to decorate.  I was surprised at his focus and just how occupied this kit kept him!
